High HbA1c indicates diabetes (the higher it is, the worse the control). Low HbA1c is usually non-diabetic, but some diabetic people have short high blood sugar spikes that do not raise HbA1c levels to what is usually viewed as the diabetic range. (3 replies)
... What actually was your a1c? Was it "normal" for someone with diabetes, or in a non-diabetic range. The two aren't necessarily the same thing. And if you have wide fluctuations of sugar levels, it is possible to have a reasonable a1c, but still get damage from the higher blood sugar levels. (3 replies)
