A healthy person's A1c will stay below 5.5 (average bs of 118), but they use 6.0 (136) as the "alarm" cut off, because at or above 6.0 always means something is off, while say, 5.7 won't always mean something is off. Really, you can't honestly think an average blood sugar of 136 is normal when the suggested range is 80-120. (6 replies)
