... Medications do not cure type 2 diabetes. They control it. Your blood sugar is now normal because you are taking the medication. This is a stupid example, but bear with me. If you had a leaking garden hose, you could stop the problem by adding tape. Once the leak is gone, you would not take off the tape, would you? ... I have been in Actos 45 mg once in the morning a day for last 8 months. The results were not good as the sugar levels were between 230-290. Doctor added Metphormin 500 mg twice a day for last one month and results are getting better (i.e. 90-100) but how long do I have to continue with it? ... As another poster mentioned oral meds do not cure but merely control type II diabetes. As you get older and have used oral medications for quite a while they usually begin to fail and you have to adjust your medication dosage or change the medication and eventually go on insulin as you simply stop producing any significant insulin. YES, I am on medication.....metphormin......and that is why he says it should be under 100 in the morning. I am exercising, watching diet (I've lost 14 lbs so far), etc....I just thought since I am on medication, that is where I read morninig readings should be no more than 120.....am I not figuring this out correctly?
