... Yes this is an especially messed up situation because I have to manage my diabetes as well. My blood sugars are pretty stable over the last few months, thank God. I figured I had low stomach acid so I started taking betaine hcl and it didn't help, so I'm sticking with thr l-glutamine because I read that it helps heal the gut. ... for me, the belching relief was immediate, I could not believe how much better I felt when I woke up after surgery. But at this point, your gut probably still is sore from surgery too, that pain can cause excessive swallowing of air, and belching too. You are diabetic, so you have to watch your diet extra carefully don't you? I would push for that gastric emptyng test and... (4 replies)

... Hi Molly, I have the same and an Endoscopy showed I have a Hiatal-Hernia. Burping is a by product of H.H but the only way to know if it is that is with an Endoscopy.
