Nobody is allowed to be happy? This is the 2nd time you posted a bitter and hateful response to me. Your first post was deleted by the mods. I was here for support in case you hadn't... (8 replies)

... These are all things that a sonogram can pick up. But please note, only a amniocentises is a guarentee of a DS diagnosis. My son's sonogram was impecable. He grew in utero. He was 8lbs 6 oz at birth and 10 days early. He showed no markers on the sonogram. ... (8 replies)

... My wife and I was informed our ultrasound showed the calcium spots or "echogenic cardiac foci". Our MD suggested a level II ultrasound. There must be some significance to the calcium spots b/c that was our only "soft marker" for DS. My wife is just 29 yoa. Is it normal to have a level II ultrasound based solely on these calcium spots? (8 replies)
... My response was merely in defense of disability and prenatal testing. I'm all for freedom of choice but I believe, as parents of those who have DS, we owe it to society to teach others that our children are worthy of everything that children without disabilities have, and that ethically speaking, the "weeding" out of individuals who are anything but perfect is wrong. I'm... (8 replies)

... The whole idea of prenatal testing is implying the idea of disability in general is wrong. Now, the severe cases, where death is immanent in a child's early years has some validity to prenatal testing, but the moderate cases, such as DS, is unethical to assume that these people should not have the chance to flourish. If people with disabilities were fully integrated into... (8 replies)

... Now I am scared.. my AFP came back 1-43. I passed on the amnio because the sono's have been prefect so far. the doctor gave me a couple days to think about coming in for an amnio, now I am thinking I should reconsider and have it done. (8 replies)
