Ear, Nose & Throat Message Board

Ear, Nose & Throat Board Index

Hi all.
I am 19 years old and on day 7 of post op. I just had my post op appointment today, and my ENT said everything looked great and that there was no bleeding. He okay'd me to have a regular diet, so I treated myself to some fries (craving badly and making sure to chew extensively). After I noticed a pain in my throat and looked at it to find blood beneath the surface of where my tonsils formerly were. Freaked out I called my ENT, but was told it's okay as long as no extensive bleeding occurred. Coming home, I the spit out what looked like a bloody loogie, and continued to spit up bloody for about a minute more.

I'm terrified of stories I've read people having to be recauterized, and the cycle to start all over again. Anyone have any insight? Was it a blood clot? Should I call my doctor or am I okay?

I also have many times opened my mouth to look at my healing spot.. probably not the most wise thing to do. Is it just my scabs falling off? Blood in general freaks me out, easily could be overreacting.
