Ear, Nose & Throat Board Index

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I hope someone can help me regarding my problem.

I have been having a cold/flu for 6 days now. After seeing yellow/green dishcarge from my nose on last Wednesday and having a long history of sinusitis, I went to the doctor but he told me that it did not need antibiotics.

I had to blow my nose every 15-30 minutes during past days, although I have been seeing the yellow/green discharge, it looks like it is getting better.

This morning after blowing my nose and a bit coughing (they were too hard I think), my left ear got blocked. I'm not sure if something has gone into my middle ear through eustachian tube. While I do not have pain, it is not blocked completely and when I bend over or tilt my head to the right it becomes unblocked but when I return my head to the normal position it becomes blocked again.

Unfortunately I do not have access to my doctor until Tuesday, and obviously this thing is bothering me a lot. My question is that is there anything that can help me or I should (or should not) do? if any fluid has gone into my e-tube how long does it take for the fluid to be absorbed or come out? and more importantly, on which side should I sleep tonight to prevent it from getting worse and/or help the fluid come out(if there's any inside)?

Thanks in advance for your help.
