... PianoPrincess, I'm sorry to hear that you still have a bunch of pain.:(I know it sucks. Last night I ate mashed potatoes for dinner and almost put my fist through a wall. There was a ton of black pepper mixed in with it, and it put the area that my scabs are located on FIRE. I wanted to die. So I can related. I drank cold water, NOTHING. Still Fire. Finally I ate some Jello... (8 replies)
... Hi! Wow, 12 surgeries, that's amazing. Thank you so much for all the advice - gave me more things to add to my list :) You're right, the fear is all because it is unknown. I have over 3 weeks to go before my surgery, so I'm not totally freaked out yet, but that will probably change as it gets closer! I keep saying I'm going to cancel it, lol, but I know I have to go through... (55 replies)

... Hi lysjoy! I understand your anxiety and I won't lie to you ~ it's going to be hard. You are going to need help from another adult during your recovery, so I hope someone is planning to stay with you for a while. The pain will end, even if it feels like it won't. I'd say that after a couple of weeks I was back to fairly normal activities but it takes a long time to... (28 replies)
... Cepacol can be purchased at a drug store. Walmart has it but my Target doesn't for some strange reason. Personally I prefer cepacol over chloraseptic, doesn't sting and that's important right now! The scabs are that white membrane at the back of your throat. My scabs started coming off around day 4/5 and that was when it was most painful for me. One slid off and caused... (47 replies)

... Hi Ranaya, I was wondering about you. I thought that maybe you were going to be one of those lucky ones with an easy recovery. Here's the deal. The pain meds will make you sick, but make sure that you are eating!! Even if it is only 4 bites of applesauce, chicken noodle soup, whatever. Soup was great for me ( I warmed it up, put it in the blender, and then let it cool... (72 replies)
... Hi Leanne, I am on Day 5, which is by far the worst day for pain for me. I consider myself to have a high tolerance for pain and wasn't totally worried up front about having enough pain medicine, but I was smart enough to realize that I better have all of my options covered. Most doctors think of this, too, but some get so routine with their procedures you have to be... (72 replies)

... then it's been feeling great...except for last night. My scabs are starting to come off and last night I woke up in way too much pain. Luckily I had a bottle of chloraseptic in the bathroom just waiting to used. What a lifesaver! Not even the percocet worked as good as that. Anyways, I'm gonna try to eat something. ... (275 replies)

... Well, Nieceroe... All I have is time, now that I am off work! haha Seriously, I went through two days where I couldn't eat anything either on days 4-5, but I always make sure I am drinking water. Between days 2-6, water would not go directly into my throat, but 9 out of 10 times half of what I tried to drink went straight into my nose, trickling back down my nostril.. it... (275 replies)

... Hi FB, No, I did not try chloraseptic. The doctor said not to use it or any kind of mouthwash. Many people actually suggested it, but the doc said no. I am feeling human again, although still very weak and tired. It will take time to build up my strength after a week like that! Another thing I advise when having this surgery is have someone with you at all times that... (6 replies)
