... You are at the most painful days. Keep hydrated as much as you can. There is also a gel that you can gargle that is a deadener - like lidocaine. Ask your doctor about that. It will help numb everything. (2 replies)

... reading your posts because I am a little ahead of you. My surgery was 2 weeks ago. I had no scabbing because the dr. used the coblation method. I did develop thrush after the first week. ... Have your DR rule out Thrush (mouth infection). I'd also immediately take some probiotics (or eat yogurt with active cultures) to help in case it's due to an imbalance from the antibiotics you took for the tonsillectomy. If that seems to relieve it, it's useful diagnostic info. (1 replies)

... I still had some scab left over at the 2 week mark, but it was looking significantly better by that point. If there's still a lot of white patches that don't seem to be slowly sloughing off and disappearing, it might be thrush. Check into that and if you feel it's a possibility, I would check with your ENT. Try not to panic yet, these things take time to heal. I'm over 3... (2 replies)

... A white membrane covering where your tonsils used to be is perfectly normal after a tonsillectomy. However, you may want to get this checked out by the doc just to make sure it isn't oral thrush, which you can get in the back of your throat. ... (7 replies)
