... I've never been on Topamax, but am on Klonopin, Tegretol, and a host of other meds for other disorders. If someone is taken off of a benzodiazepine (like Klonopin, Ativan, Xanax, Tranxene, Valium, etc) suddenly, they can have seizures because of the absence of the medication that the body is used to. Tapering is much safer, but with being pregnant, it's a risk/benefit thing-... (6 replies)

... My doctors had me on klonopin and topamax and they said they should help the seizures too and it was all i really "needed". ... (6 replies)

... Topamax is an evil drug. Although it lessened the seizures-it also took my memory away. I don't remember my baby's first year-including when she walked, talked, etc. My friend was on it for migraines and she had the same side effects (luckily I could talk to her about it and not feel like I was going CRAZY). The only thing it was good for was weight loss-I lost about 30... (6 replies)

... Saw the doc today, and she's looking at adding one of those (can't afford the neuro, so she's doing the best she can, and researching, but so am I- which she knows I'll do anyway!!).... Current meds: Tegretol- 400 mg twice daily Neurontin 600 mg twice daily (also used for autonomic disorder, so not to be dumped) Klonopin 4 mg at bedtime (others- for other disorders:... (7 replies)
... I was put on Depakote for an autonomic neurological disorder, and had tremors so bad, I had to stop it. Been on Dilantin, Keppra, Lyrica, with ok results with the Dilantin, til I was given 700mg/day, and my liver rebelled. The Keppra caused constipation I won't even describe, and the Lyrica was useless. I'm on Neurontin for the autonomic disorder, but it seems to help with the... (10 replies)
... Ive been tryin to research new meds. I dont know whats with me, most meds work for some time 2 weeks to a few months, the longest any medication for anything that has worked for me was maybe 8 or 9 months. Then the effects die down and its pretty much like popping sugar pills to fix my problems. I do think my epilepsy is from an underlying cause therefor the antiseizure... (6 replies)
... Hello, I have had siezures for 10 years & they started 11 1/2 years ago. Topomax has helped tremendously. However, NOW I have what seems to be really good news for someone who cannot take medication. About a month ago I started taking a supplement that is apparently getting to the root of the problem & not just preventing siezures. (Thank goodness for that) But you... (6 replies)
... I was actually diagnosed with epilepsy even though I have never had a seizure(that we know of) and was put on a wonderful medication called Zonegran. I took it for like 2 years. I had symptoms that they thought could be very minor seizures but havn't had them since I took the medication. I had to stop taking the medicine though about 2 years ago because I developed another... (6 replies)
... Hello Kitten, First of all you need a new doctor! At the least a neurologist. If your GP doesn't know that MANY forms of Epilepsy don't show up on EEGs then he/she needs to go back to medical school! Just because activity doesn't show up on an EEG doesn't mean you don't have Epilepsy. Our daughter had seizures for 15 1/2 years. And in that time she probably had at... (3 replies)
... I was on Topomax and Keppra last year. I hated the Keppra. It made me feel nervous and anxious. I had to be on Klonopin to counteract the effects of the Keprra. ... (17 replies)
... After spending a week in hospital due to status, I am now on Keppra, Dilantin and Klonopin. After exeriencing failure with other meds, these 2 have made a significant improvement in my siezures although i am still having some generalized and complex partial. I am experiencing side effects but not sure which med is responsible. I'm very tired all the time and my dh says my... (17 replies)

... ok, I have had this seizure disorder for 5-7 years, and i'm 23 now. I have a caring girlfriend, and we have the most beautiful 3 year old daughter in the world. After the first few seizures when I was 17, my mother took me to have MRI's, catscan, and EEG or EKG(whichever looks at the brain waves.) The doctor said I have epilipsey, so I now see a neurologist. FUN! She first... (6 replies)
... Hi KittyMom! Thanks for your reply. :) I'm so glad to hear that it went so well when you told your new Boss about the "E". And they asked if there is anything they can do for you? That's awesome. For me, I'm dreading going in to work tomorrow, after having a seizure at work on Friday. But as I'm reading your e-mail, it makes me feel better knowing there really ARE people... (33 replies)
