... I would definately be seeing an opthamologist, not an optometrist. An optometrist makes glasses and is not a medical doctor, an opthamologist is. It could be nothing more than a stye- caused by rubbing it or something in it or it can be a symptom of something else, but your PCP is not the person to dx anything in your eyes...please see an opthamologist.
