I am considering this surgery as well, but am nervous about the healing process. You can email or call them. Their contact is on the website. (5 replies)

Ptyergium Surgery
Oct 31, 2006
... Hi all, Thought I'd post a note about ptyergium surgery that I had on October 27'th. In part, this board gave me a lot of good info to evaluate when making the initial decision on whether or not to do it. HISTORY The history has only an odd footnote in that I moved to London in March '06, and about May I noticed a bump in both eyes. In the "classic"... (32 replies)

... Hi Kerry! I also suffer from pinguecula, and perhaps by the time you read my response you will no longer suffer from them. I am very interested in how your visit to Harvard Eye went. ... I also have a pinguecula. I went to see two different doctors about it. One doctor gave me a perscription for eye drops because of the inflammation. I want to get my removed b/c I can no longer wear my contacts, it becomes inflammed, gives me headaches, and for cosmetic reasons, yet it seems that no of the doctors around me are willing to do that. Are you interested in... (2 replies)
... I have just answered my own question: yes, they can get worse, IF they start to grow over the iris into the cornea. I don't think mine is that bad. Guess I just gotta go ease the discomfort with eye drops. (2 replies)
... I have a pinguecula on my right eye, and lately it has been hurting quite a bit. I am on pain meds for my back, but that doesn't help. Usually it gets inflammed when I am tired but it has been hurting all day at times, feels like something is poking my eye. I know there isn't anything in my eye, except for this. I am not planning on going to my doc, but I thought I see if... (2 replies)

... Anyone else suffer from pingueculas?? I was wondering how you deal with it. I never had it until I moved from the mid-west to CA. I have a discolored area on the inner side of my eye where the white meets the iris. It gets sore, irritated and inflammed when I watch tv, get on the comp (like now), or have too much or too little light. If you have this, what do you do to... (1 replies)
Recent eye exam

... Sounds like you have whats called a pterygium. Like you said, its a condition where the clear tissue thats over the white part of your eye starts to incroach on your cornea. This occurs usually due to UV exposure, wind, dust, etc irritants to that soft tissue. If it grows out far onto the cornea it will start to induce astigmatism and decrease your vision. At that point,... (1 replies)
