... Hi Nicholas, Sorry for the delay, been offline for a bit. So, it's two months post surgery, and things are going along well. For the past few days, my surgery eye has been a bit irritated. But, I've had problems with dry eye for a long time, and also have been getting past the flu. I've got an appointment with the eye doc in two weeks, so I'll post an update... (32 replies)

... Thought I'd post a note about ptyergium surgery that I had on October 27'th. In part, this board gave me a lot of good info to evaluate when making the initial decision on whether or not to do it. ... (32 replies)
... I had pytergium surgery in May and was surprised at how long it took to heal. Probably about 12 weeks to look like myself again. Unfortunately I just went back to the doctor and the pytergium is back, after only five months. I had the graft, I think with stitches, not glue, but I'm not positive. I am very discouraged. Dr. is going to watch it, if it stays the way it is now we... (0 replies)

... gagie, I'm sorry to hear that. That stinks. Did you do the procedure with the eye stitches and graft or graft and glue or just cut and stitch? Where did you go to have it done? It seems in my research the most successful have been at Harvard Eye Clinic in CA. Hopefully the red goes away. I hate the redness. Keep your shades on outside and keep dust down inside. That... ... I am jealous some of you have had successful surgeries. I had removal 3 months ago since it was growing and ALREADY it has grown back!! My eye is more red now than ever and people are constantly telling me how red my eyes are! The doctor has had me on several different drops- the latest ones are BURNING my eyes. I don't know what to do. I am supposed to have surgery on my 2nd... (32 replies)
... kayti, I just reread one of your prior posts and saw that you said about 2 weeks and the redness had really gone down. Well, thanks again and take care. Nicholas (32 replies)
... kayti, Thanks for responding. Good luck on you next procedure. It gives me confidence to know that the first one was successful enough to go at it again. I know the Harvard Eye site. How long has it taken for your eyes lose the redness from the procedure? Your tough. Best wishes on this next round!! (32 replies)

... I know I had a hard time finding any before/after pics on the internet, so if anyone is interested you can go to ****** images, type in pterygium autograft and the first result is a set of 3 pics, the first pic is before, second in after 1 week and final pic is a few months I think. After only 3 weeks my eye looks like the last pic, hope this gives some hope to everyone :) (32 replies)

... Kayti I am so glad your procedure has gone well. Did you get the graft procedure where they take from another part of your eye or did you get the one where they already have some genetically made piece that they put in place of the remove ping. Meaning so they don't have to harvest from another part of your eye, but use the paste and a genetically prepared piece that goes... (32 replies)
... Hi astec- I understand where youre coming from, although Ive never had one grow back (just had one removed). I had the new procedure done on one of my eyes, and so far its been great! It hasnt even been two weeks and you can barely see any redness. I have insurance, but they wouldnt cover it because it hadnt grown onto my cornea YET (so ridiculous). I got mine done at... ... I am a 46 year old male and initially recognized a growth on my eye back around 1991. Immediately went to Eye Dr.... basically was told same thing from TWO different Dr's and that was "not sure what causes them, really no cure for them" "keep an eye on it and if it grows to affect vision you will need to have it removed" Then in 2002 I started to wear "reading glasses"... ... Hi Kayti... Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I'm really glad to hear that so far you are happy with the results and that the surgery went well...it's always great to hear a success story. I have been thinking about getting the pingeculas in my eyes removed for awhile. I spoke with a Dr. in Florida that does the same procedure as the Harvard Eye Inst. but I'm... (32 replies)
... Hi Lexis, are you planning on having the procedure done too? I went for my postop today and the doctor said everything looks great and its healing really well. I'll have to say it looked really bad the first morning, my cheekbone was (and still is) bruised and my eye was very red. But after only a week the bruise is lightening and my eye is more pink. Im glad that I had it... (32 replies)

... Good luck to you Kayti. I hope that your procedure goes well. I had the same thing with the docs ie getting mixed reviews about the removal bit (I saw a few different ones). Please keep us posted when possible. I always get excited when somebody gets the procedure done. I can't wait for my turn. Take care, Nicholas (32 replies)
