... Well, scheduled cataract removal for 6/25. Left eye only. I really like this new doctor. Very thorough exam on both eyes. Right eye is good except nearsighted w/floaters - no sign of cataract at all. I had two options as best I understand them. 1). Set the operative eye where it would be 20/20. Would have to wear contacts in order for both eyes to work together. The... (5 replies)
... Thanks again for responding. I see a new Dr. tomorrow. It takes months to get in to see these guys here unless you are having emergency. I still have an appointment with my original one in a month and will cancel if I like the new better. I am hoping the cataract can be removed and my right (good eye) can be left alone until something warrants its attention. I have worn... (5 replies)
... I forgot to answer your other question: I've been told I 'had' to do both eyes when I get cataract surgery in future first one then the other rather than 'just doing one' because otherwise there would be too much of a difference between the vision in each eye. I happen to know someone who did wait 7 or 8 years in between doing cataract surgery for both, doing just one... (5 replies)

... Hi Jim, I have no experience with this (other than reading about vitrectomy/ERM peel) but noticed you had said you were having a follow up appointment with your retina doctor the next week ... hope that went well. It sounds as if the cataract started happening immediately if I understood correctly. Best wishes tillamook (5 replies)
... e 24x7 with breaks every 15 minutes. After the week I noticed shadow on both left and right periphery. Went back to the doctor and was admitted to hospital for vitrectomy so he could attach the retina. This was followed by 12 week gas bubble. ... (5 replies)
... Tillamook, thanks for responding. Yes I had the followup with the surgeon and got the all clear for the cataract removal. I think I can attribute most of the dry eye / scratchiness to it being winter at the time. Since furnace isn't running as much now, the eye feels like 100%. I went ahead and scheduled two different appointments with separate ophthalmologists. Doing... (5 replies)

... Only just saw this and realised I did not reply. At the time you posed the question, I had only had one vitrectomy (June 2008) and that was a saline solution with no bubble. My second vitrectomy was 31st March 2009 and that was with the saline solution and a gas/air bubble. More details in the ILM peel thread. (12 replies)
... Paul, I presume the test in which you had sharp vision with the operated eye was the 'pinhole' test in which you look through a blanking plate with a tiny hole in the middle. This indicates that the blurred vision is due to a lens correction problem. If you wear glasses, the lens is no longer the right prescription. The ophthalmolgist may be reluctant to prescibe a new lens... (12 replies)
... Hello, PLEASE BE PATIENT. "PIXELS" ARE STILL MISSING - DONT WORRY. Are you on drops, first predforte then non steroidal as I received. I had Vitrectomy 2/07 at Duke related facility and I'm still in healing process. ... Hello again, vitcat2! I, too, thought that any RD necessitated immediate treatment…until that day that I spoke to my doctor and he told me that since my central vision was gone, it could wait a few days. Ordinarily, I am not a person who blindly trusts medical professionals….I’ve dealt with too many of them who were not intelligent enough, knowledgeable enough, compassionate... (15 replies)
