I had a brostrum repair Nov 2012 and things were fine for almost a year. Ever since then I have had multiple issues with sharp pinching ( sprain like pain). The ankle feels stable, but it goes weak when I get this pinching and caused me to limp. I'm a triathlete so I'm very active. I've tried everything from rest, graston, ART, cortisone shots, PT, cold laser therapy, chiro and been working on strength forever. I've been to 2 dif podiatrists and 2 orthos. The pain is in the front of the ankle, behind it and on top of the ankle. Everything I have read it looks like peroneal area. Sometimes I can walk normal and other times I can't. My mri didn't show anything and I'm angry!!! I think a scope is needed and neither ortho want to do it. This has been going on for almost 2 years. I'm 36 and just want this taken care of. I'm pretty sure the orthos are familiar with each other and the second one doesn't want to get involved. HOw do I find another doctor that will do a scope?
I don't think this is nerve. I'm pretty sure it's soft tissue as one ortho says. One time I felt like something split on top of my ankle when I ran. I asked the doc if it could be peroneal tear and he said no because of no swelling. It's been 3 months since I've attempted a run. It's tearing me up inside!!!
im a year post op from my brostrum, peroneal/cover repair due to sublexing.

when my peroneals would pop, instant instability and would pinch and shoot nerve pains up calf. haven't had the popping since surgery but i still get dull aches along peroneal nerve path.

i was doing pretty good besides aches and pains and my proprioception being off until a couple months ago. i'm not aware of ever reinjuring myself and as of today i would say my repairs and structure are still sound.

i started getting tightness around rear/lower ankle bone side to side and a pinching pain back there like when pressing a car brake pedal or pointing my toes down.

i tried taking some time off but its pretty consistent now. i am functioning rather well but have had to take days off because of it when it hurts enough to make me limp. i can go on hikes for the most part for example but my old job which involves lost of physical activity can get me in trouble with all the wierd angles.

if i had a desk job i don't feel like i would be looking for another surgery and could do the regular gym scene. i am trying to get back to peak performance though and pushing myself. for me the pain is low on the scale, its just real bad for me to do all the hiking i want if there is pinching pain in the range of motion. i will back off because i don't want paint with every step, etc.

I feel like I get some tightness as well. It almost felt like pressure and/or cramping on the lateral side of the foot. I also have pinching in a couple of areas too. I'm going to try dry needling soon. UGH! It hurts bad, but I"m willing to try anything.
