Left foot reconstructive surgery. Very flat feet. Broken bones on outer foot to straighten ankle (screws and such), calf release, tendions on inner foot messed with too. Don't know details because they make my stomach turn.

6 weeks no weight and 3 days ago given a walking boot. Doc said do what you can and start PT when you are ready. Healing perfectly. PT appt is late next week. I can't seem to walk in this damn boot.

I know a lot of it must be in my head but I can't do it. I have sat with my arm weight on my knee and now that is fine. I have made the walking motions with my foot while using crutches and try to add weight. I have stood in place holding crutches or desk and added weight to foot. I CAN'T TAKE A STEP. I can't put my full weight on that boot.

HELP ME!!! Doc said it could take 4 to 5 day for some people but I don't want to be that person. Help me figure out how to just do it. Or at least tell me your stories about how it really just does take this long and I'm not alone.

Please make sure you are at the same height on the opposite foot. There are heal risers etc. Right now I am using something called even up and that puts a strap with risers over my tennis shoe so I can walk level with my boot.
That will help.
Did they want you to put full weight on the foot or start out with a certain amount of weight. I started out with 75 lbs on the affected foot and then added 25 lbs per week but that is for my ankle replacement. When I had other surgeries they had me always start with a certain weight on the foot with surgery. Just keep making the effort and it should work. Therapy will help you with that also. Good Luck. Sounds like you are progressing well.
