Hi Grimpy,
Thanks for your reply back. Yes, I am so thankful to get a shower today sometime. I need to really soak my foot too. It is so dry and the skin is just flaking off. I had some very thick skin where my bunion was and the skin is just coming off alot and on the bottom of my foot too. Lots of lotion and TLS should do the trick. One thing that I am really surprised at is last night I tried to sleep in the bed with my husband. I have been sleeping on the couch cuz it hurt alot to have my foot touched before but it was wrapped up alot as you know but now it is very tender. I couldn't even stand having the covers on it last night. Not sure what I will do about that. But sure will come up with something. Needless to say, Didn't sleep well last night but time will take care of that too. I am glad you get to take a shower too. Won't that be wonderful.Does that screw bother you?
Hugs, Polly

Hi Polly.
Just a thought on the blanket issue. At first my husband made me a "box" to slide my feet in to keep them protected. We used a long pastic storage box and cut off one end. The put blankets on top of the box. The other option (and what I'm doing now that my feet are less tender) is putting two firm pillows under your sheet/blanket at the bottom of the bed. This lifts the linens off your feet. Also you can reduce irritation or pressure when laying on your side by putting a pillow between your legs and sliding down toward your feet. This will let you dangle the injured foot over the pillow a bit and provide extra cushioning.

Why can't anyone shower? I use these plastic cast protector things called "Sure Tight" and I just pull them over my feet and lower leg. They completely seal out water so you can shower without a problem. I can't imagine doing sponge baths for this long.
