Jean

I had one rigid hammertoe repaired where they did a fusion by removing the cartligage and some bone on both sides of the joint are rmoved. The toe was then straightened and the bones were held together with a pin for several weeks. The toe is a bit shorter than the other toe on left foot (one next to big toe) and it is still a little bit swollen.

I can move it up and down but it does not bend at the joint. It is not floppy. I think when the swelling goes down a little it should be ok. How long before your foot started feeling "normal" It's been 7 weeks for me and the foot where the neuroma was removed still has weird feelings.

Exercise is what I am thinking of starting up. I have a treadmill and also a new nordictrack recumbent exercise bike think will work out good.

Sharon,
My toes didn't feel normal for a long time. At least 4 1/2 months. The doctor said that he ran into trouble with one of my toes, the one next to the little one and it took him 45 min. to do that one. It is the one that is a little floppy on the end. My toe next to the big toe is also shorter than before. My little toe looks good and the middle toe also looks good. Don't think I'll ever be able to bend them. I keep trying. Good luck to you hope yours feels normal soon. I just had a lot done to my foot. I do a lot of exercise. Jean
