Foot & Ankle Problems Message Board

Foot & Ankle Problems Board Index

The talus is the true ankle bone. The bony bumps on each side are the ends of your leg bones, but in between them is another bone about the size of a walnut, which supports the weight of your entire body.

An OCD is Osteo-Chondral defect, an injury to the cartilage and possibly the surface of the bone. If they occur on the talus, it's difficult for them to heal, especially if they aren't diagnosed and you keep walking on it.

This could be what's wrong with your foot. In any case, you need a careful evaluation, and for a chronic problem, the ER is not the place to get it.
