Hi BG77,
To the best of my experience, classic plantar fascitis symptoms are burning pain in the arch and heel of a foot with sometime pain into the back of the heel where the achilles tendon is. I found that I had most pain with initial stepping, so say after periods of sitting or in bed and then when I get up and step on it it kills. However, usually those symptoms will go away pretty quickly and then I would only get them again if I walk on my foot for really long periods of time. I have been told to go to the pharmacy and purchase OTC shoe inserts to support the arch and someone else once told me to get a heel cup for the shoe that that helps to take the tension off the tight calf muscles that are pulling on the heel and cause some of the arch pain. They also sell night splints that stretch the calf which some people say help plantar fascitis, but I have never used. I am not 100% sure, but I believe numbness and tingeling are not typical symptoms of plantar fascitis and sound like they could be more the nerve issue you are mentioning. But who knows, maybe you do have both? Good luck with figuring out what is up and I hope my experience helps you to determine if that is what is going on with you.
