Foot & Ankle Problems Board Index

Doctors see lots of people's bodily issues on a regular basis, so I can assure you that you will not be judged. Also, remember that doctors are there to help you, not judge you, and these kinds of problems are very common.

More often than not yellowing of toenails, especially the big toe, indicate fungal infection. Fungal infections can happen without trauma to the toes, so the fact you had your toes stepped on hard may or may not have anything to do with the problems you currently now have.

I had a fungal infection of one of my big toes along with a large area on the ball of my foot, and when I saw my doctor he said the oral medication Lamisil was the only thing that has been proven to cure this kind of problem. Lamisil, however, can cause liver damage and other problems, so get educated on it before you decide to take it. It worked great for me though, and I had no liver problems or other problems with it. Best of all, no more ugly yellow toe nails!

Best wishes!
