... Mine was a shoe also, it was like a board on bottom so it didn't bend. It was quite a while before I could walk barefoot and even now I would rather have a shoe on - it is more comfortable.
I had my bandage for two weeks, changed at one week and then sutures removed at two weeks. I was able to get rid of the surgical shoe at that point and wear running shoes.
