... It is not normal for a man your age to have such bad foot pain. The ball of your foot is where the metatarsal joints are and those are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, which absolutely should be checked (blood tests). It is less likely, but gout should be ruled out as well. Please see a regular MD or rheumatologist to check this and other possibilites out so you can walk. You... (3 replies)

I got a pair of the Featherspring orthodics about twenty years ago when I had pain in the balls of my feet. They were a HUGE help.
