Cracking on toes
Jan 29, 2007

... Eko, I had pins sticking out of the top of my foot holding my metatarsal together. The podiatrist took them out in his office. I was a little freaked out at the thought (I'm squeamish about even needles), so he said I could take an Ativan first. I lay back, tensed up, and in about 1.5 seconds it was over. No pain, just a moment of pressure. No bleeding. The wound looked... (3 replies)

... You should go to a podiatrist if it's that severe. Occasional ingrown toenails can be fixed at home - soak your foot in hot water and epsom salt for 10 minutes. Sterilize the area, a flat metal file, and surgical scissors with OTC betadine. Use the file to lift the toenail (gently, or it will rip) out of the nailbed and up over the side of the toe. If it's not too big... (2 replies)
... Hi Caroline, A clog does not sound like a good shoe to start off in as you have to flex your foot to keep it from sliding off with every step. I would be inclined to think a sneaker would be a better choice. A heavier sock would also be better as it would give you better cushioning. Ron (4 replies)
... it caused my incision to bleed. This was very discouraging, as I'm now back in the clunky black boot, and my toe is very unbendable. One thing I think is a big problem is that my doctor only sees me every 2 weeks for about 5 minutes. That's managed care for you. ... (4 replies)
