... It sounds like a possible arterial clot! That is very serious. Did you have a Doppler ultrasound at the hospital? You need to go back to the ER (maybe a different one?). Do you have pulses in that foot/ankle? If it is truly black/dark blue/purple, it is a sign of circulation being cut off which leads to gangrene and infection. Please go back to ER without delay! ... It could be plantars warts. They usually are bumps and when numerous you can actually see the black specks (the roots) of the warts. When they become numerous they do hurt. My son had them and the doctor told him that it is common in teenagers and young adults. He went to a podiatrist.
