... aying the big toe might have to be fused. I do not have too much pain at this point, although I get callouses on both feet due to stiffened toes from an equally botched hammer toes fix. My condition is definitely worsening and I don't know what should be done. ... (4 replies)
... ing hard to make the right decision about having this surgery. I had both feet operated on about 6 years ago. It was another type of bunionectomy and the surgeon botched it up, so I finally found a great surgeon that confirmed to me that my last surgery was completely wrong and told me about the Lapidus procedure. ... ... ic surgeon, so Im confident that it has a high chance of turning out well. The reason I need this surgery in the first place is that its a salvage surgery for a botched bunionectomy from a few years ago. But Im most happy to go through the pain you both have described for a foot that works right. ... (8 replies)

... I'm just curious to know which type of specialist you saw the first time. It might be worthwhile to get a second opinion from an orthopedic surgeon if your first operation was with a podiatrist (or vice versa). They are both highly trained and bring different approaches to the table. (4 replies)
... Welcome! Can you tell us what procedure your dr did the first time? Also, exactly what would you like to accomplish in the repair? Would you like to have your toes look better? What kind of activity would you like to take part in? Would you like to walk a couple of miles a day or would you like to run a marathon? :) If we know what your goals are we can address your... ... Hi All, I used to frequent this board all the time because I had double bunionectomies--twice!! Well finally the second time (and second doc) was a charm and my feet are now healed from those surgeries. But what has emerged, a neuroma on left foot. My great pod diagnosed with an MRI to be sure and we tried cortizone (nothing) and then the alcohol injections. He had a... (4 replies)
... supermom, I'm sorry to be so long in responding to your post. I've reread it several times and I've tried to stifle my natural reaction, but I have to tell you this situation sounds really bad to me. I'm getting very concerned about whether you're seeing the right doctor(s). (I'm sorry, but I can't remember whether you're with the same doctor who did your original double... (10 replies)
... I know what you mean, Paula. I've been studying my husband's feet because it's been so long since my feet were normal I've forgotten what normal feet are supposed to look like. I have an almost invisible little bump where my bunion used to be, probably because the swelling is coming down and the natural shape of my foot is returning. I also asked my doctor whether the... ... I am searching for a doctor to perform surgery on my hammer toe. Today I saw Dr. Moy as suggested by a friend. He is the fourth doctor that I have seen regarding my surgery. The other doctors suggested that I have my second toe bone cut down to shorten the toe and two metatarsal bones shortened as well as cutting the nerves between two of the toes to relieve some of my... Fusion of Big Toe

... Brenda and Maureen, Thank you so very much for your notes! They helped me tremendously! Here is where I am at today; my left great toe has had 2 surgeries. In 2004, I had a botched double-bunionectomy done by a Podiatrist, hence the "screw-up" and the 2nd surgery to try to correct that was done in 2007 by an ortho. surgeon. I regained a little flexibility, but it didn't... (162 replies)
... Never, I say never use a podiatrist. I am covered by VA insurance but for a toe issue they only allow you a podiatrist, hence out of my pocket for a Ortho (19 replies)
... Also, I had a double bunionectomy 4 years ago by a podiatrist who "botched up" my left foot, 2 years later I had a ortho. ... (162 replies)
... Does anyone have an opinion on using an ortho. surgeon vs. a podiatrist? I had double bunionectomy 4 years ago by a podiatrist - the right foot works, but the left great toe is a mess! I had a 2nd surgery by an ortho. who didn't really correct the problem, but said my joint was "botched up" by the podiatrist. I now need to have either a fusion or a joint replacement. I... ... What do I think? As I am not a physician, I canít advise you about how this foot of yours can be fixed Ė but I can offer other wise advice. It is imperative that you be very careful about selecting the right doc for your surgery. When I had a bunionectomy about 3 years ago, I flew from Washington DC to Lake Forest, California, to have the procedure done by an excellent... (73 replies)
Fusion/foot

... the operation trigerred an osteoartritis and that this is the cause of my problems. I requested a second opinion to someone else, and the true might be that the botched operation trigered it, not the other way round. I will now go for a manipulation but was told not to make false hope because this might or might not help. ... (7 replies)
