... ad, bad sprain. When I was 17 I tore the ligaments, resulting in being in a cast for 6 weeks. When I was 19 again I tore the ligaments and had surgery in which a tendon was grafted into my ankle. ... The process really varies from doctor to doctor. I was casted and on bedrest for 6 weeks and then in a walking cast 4 weeks. After that I got a boot and gradually transitioned to walking without crutches. I think that took 10 days-2 weeks. I was in the boot 6 weeks.
