... I have broken my 5th met (on my left foot) and it's a hard injury to recover from. I didn't break my ankle bone but I did tear the ligaments and cartilage during the injury. I would suggest asking for an MRI because there definitely could be soft tissue injury there that X-rays aren't going to pick up...only MRI. Where in SE Asia are you? ... The cuboid is another bone in the foot. Yours is broken. The second metatarsal is the foot bone which your second toe is attached to, that's broken as well. The cuneiform bones are also around the middle of your foot, the second one may be broken. ... (5 replies)

... When I broke my ankle, the breaks couldn't be seen on an x-ray so I ended up getting a CT scan and they showed up on that. I also ended up getting an MRI which showed up the torn ligaments :( I only got one set of x-rays, didn't see a break so told me I'd be fine in a week. ... Ask for an MRI to check for a fracture of the cuboid bone. Mine did not show on xray but that's what has caused me pain on the lateral side of my foot. If MRI isn't possible I'd skip to treating and just boot it. Unless it's a displaced fracture that's what they'd do anyways. ... (1 replies)
