... I broke both heels back in August 2016. This is a very painful injury with a very long recovery. If you are still taking opiod based painkillers, I recommend easing off of them as soon as possible. They only make the frustration worse. Start taking Advil or Aleve to relieve the pain. If you are working with someone that really knows what they are doing, it will cut down on the worrying because you will learn what needs to be done to correct the problem. ... It's possible but honestly unlikely. With the force of the talus being driven in the calcaneus you are guaranteed to experience a significant amount of cartilage damage. You are very likely to develop arthritis in the subtalar joint. Probably pretty soon after you start walking in the right foot but even the left is likely to be affected after a number of years.
