... The Brostrom procedure is typically an open ankle surgery, not arthroscopic; but if yours was less invasive maybe it is healing faster? Mine healed "fast" --got out of casts ahead of schedule and have moved faster in PT than anyone thought--but I still was in a cast for 6 weeks and a boot for 2ish. I'm 10 weeks out now and am slowly getting back to some activity, but nothing... (3 replies)

Long story short...because it really is a long story: End of September: Sprained ankle, saw ortho, was in boot for 5-6 weeks October: Taken out of boot, put into PT November: Still wasn't healed, had MRI done Beginning of December: MRI results -- torn ATFL, would need surgery but surgeon was booked through the month Now: Surgery is scheduled for next Monday (the 16th) ... ... Don't be surprised if you are casted more than you might expect with these procedures. Different doctors vary widely. I have a Brostrom-Evans which is similar to the modified but tightens things up more as well as peroneal repair and scope. My ortho did not want my ankle moved at all for 6 weeks; the only movement was to slightly change casting positions every 2 weeks. At... (7 replies)
