... That sounds awfully painful. I found that as soon as I was able to start walking that helped to pump some of the swelling away. I am still swollen now, but it seems to be improving weekly. Hopefully once she is able to fully wean off the crutches that will help with the swelling. My doctor said it will take a year for the swelling to reside, and it may never be the exact... ... out the link between a nerve being caught and having trouble moving her toes. Anatomically, it doesn't work out. The only nerve that runs on the outside of the ankle where the incision is carries sensory information from the top of the foot.
