... I think the Brostrom procedure is to stabailize my ankle, and the Evans procedure is to "fix" my torn tendon, but i do not know the acctual process involved in either one. ... (3 replies)
... Don't be surprised if you are casted more than you might expect with these procedures. Different doctors vary widely. I have a Brostrom-Evans which is similar to the modified but tightens things up more as well as peroneal repair and scope. My ortho did not want my ankle moved at all for 6 weeks; the only movement was to slightly change casting positions every 2 weeks. At... (7 replies)

... Just a quick alteration to my original post - the surgeon is in fact planning a Brostrom augmented by a Chrisman-Snook procedure. Small difference, I know. But anyone here had a Chrisman-Snook done and can pass on any advice?? Thanks again (5 replies)
... There really is a lot of variations of brostom repairs. My first one they actually just repaired my existing ligaments by "tightening" them. That failed so the dr did the brostrom-Evans, where half of my brevis tendon was split and rerouted to take the place of my ATFL and CFL. If my tendon would have been torn, he would have used a cadaver graft. They say doing a tendon graft... (5 replies)
... I feel like a veteran of the Brostroms. I had my first modified Brostrom 10 years ago. They tightened the ATFL and I had wonderful success with that. Then 10 months ago I badly sprained my ankle again. ... (6 replies)

... Day 29 I did have an Evans Procedure (maybe it was called a weave and I can't remember). I had this done in 1989...I was young. All I remember is that they used a tendon (from my leg area) to replace the weak ligament in my ankle. You asked if it hurt more... Well, they kept me in the hospital for 2 nights. But after that I went back to college and did everything a college... (48 replies)
... I will share that I have had several ankle surgeries in the past. I started out rolling my ankle in gymnastics in high school and it never got better. I had an Evans Procedure my sophomore year in college, then it was scoped a few years later, and then again in my early 30's. ... (48 replies)

... It is a significantly longer recovery from the procedures where they mess with your tendons. 2nd ATFL repair

... Hi, I didn't include scopes but to date there have been three. The last one done right before the second repair. In my mind, I feel my constabulary will in all likliehood medically retire me. That's not a good enough outcome for me. As my accident happened at work I can have my pension contributions doubled. But even then it won't be enough for me and my young(ish) family... (4 replies)

... I know there is another procedure (I want to say Brostrom-Evans or something like that) which I may or may not have had (long story but the dr's notes say he was strongly considering it and would decide once he got in there and then nobody gave me any specifics afterward that were that detailed; I request surgical records and never got them so I need to do that again) where...
