... Yes it is possible that the Bromstrom failed. The repaired ligaments are not as strong as liagments before injury. The ligament can stretch out over time or you could have done something to retear ligaments. I had bilateral bromstrom failures. ... I totally understand your feelngs about crutches. Have you looked into buying or renting a knee walker (scooter)? I LOVE mine! Dr told me to buy it since I'll be nwb for so long, found a good deal online, you can find used ones on craigs list, I bought new. Your insurance might even cover it, ask your Dr for a prescription.
