... Emmy, Jane is correct in asking if it is medial or lateral as you have 2 malleoli (malleolus is the singular term). Basically it is referring to the bump or "ankle bone" on the inside or outside of your foot/ankle. The one on the inside (medial) is your tibia which is responsible for most of weight bearing, and the one on the outside is your fibula which is responsible... (4 replies)
