... Hi all this is my second week of the bunion op, no pins so maybe lucky , anyway I've got check up this Friday and I'm pretty bothered about what the Dr is going to say about the top layer of the ridiculous bandage removal by myself . It really was loose it was hanging off becoming Loose , so bit worried if that would effect the healing process (1 replies)
... Hi, I am having a bilateral scarf bunion op tomorrow - is there anyone else who has had this surgery recently as it would be nice to go through experiences etc? thanks, Pinky P (18 replies)

... Hello, I wonder what procedure you had. I am nine weeks after a bilateral scarf akin bunion op and I don't know if acupuncture would help, but I have had great results in reducing the swelling, which hasten the healing, with acupuncture. ... (4 replies)
... Hey did u get any reply to this? I had it done 1year 9 mths ago! Do jot regret it but fish I did more mobilizing exercises post op as my left toe is perfect but the right is still a bit stiff & gives me some pain:( the look great though and way less pain& I can run again ( except for the part where I'm really unfit). :) (18 replies)
... Hi cards5fan, sounds like you had some sort of bunionectomy with akin. Our scenario is slightly different, as I only had the bunionectomy without correcting the big toes. My surgeon decided not to touch them as aesthetically and anatomically they don't look bad, but you can see slight crookedness if I bend my toe 90 degree. The recovery process is much quicker without the... (18 replies)
... Hi. I don't know what the surgery i had is called but my doctor broke my big toe, straigtened it, and put a screw in to hold it (is this what your doctor did?). He also removed a toenail from the other foot (left foot bunion and right big toenail removed). Stiches were removed at 1 week 5 days and i started PT at 3 weeks 2 days. I had a follow-up appt on Fri june 3rd (8... (18 replies)
... I wore my MBTs I think between 7 month to 10 month post op and prior to that, I was wearing old pair of my sneakers that were "wrap-around" (no shoe lace or tongue) so they conformed to my swelling feet quite well :) Happy shopping! (18 replies)
... Thanks for your quick reply, I know what MBT's are, I've seen people wear them at work! The doc said I could probably start wearing trainers one size too big at around the 4 week post-op mark so I'm looking for trainers at the moment. Did you wear your MBT's after 7 months? (18 replies)
... Hi Pinky, Congrats on getting the bandage off! Yes, stay off your feet for as long as you can as it will help with the recovery process by letting the bones to have a chance to heal faster without any weight. Believe it or not, I never iced mine as I was staying at a hotel at a time, so I just kept them up all the time for the first 3 weeks, then I had to take a flight to... (18 replies)
... Hi Earthworm, I had my bandages taken off last week (I didn't have them changed at week 1 as my surgeon told me to come back after 2 weeks). They didn't look too bad! I do walk about a little more than I did in week one, I'm hoping that's not a bad thing although, most of the day my feet are up and iced. How long did you carry on putting ice on your feet for? Did you put... (18 replies)
... Yay!! that sounds exciting! Bring the camera! lol Did you get your bandages changed at week 1? I got mine changed at week 1 and they were not a pretty sight! My heart fell to the floor....no, just kidding, but it really wasn't a pretty sight. ... How long after your op did you start walking using your toes? ... (18 replies)
... i went back to my consultant yesterday as still have a pain in my big toe joint. He X-rayed my foot again and has decided that he will remove the screws in three weeks time as one of them is possibly a little long and may have slightly moved since the swelling etc has gone. ... ection. He said he would as a last resort remove this tiny bone but definatley not in the next 4 or 5 months as it takes a long time for things to settle after a bunion op so i must be patient. This is not what i expected but i will go with the avice. By he way the swelling improved hugely after 3 months. ... (3 replies)
... i had a scarf procedure 9 weeks ago to correct a small but painful bunion. The recovery was ok i went back to work on week 6 however i can get a flat shoe on now but my foot still swells and i am finding it difficult to walk without limping. This is mainly because of the very painful 'bruised' feeling under my big toe joint. i can bend my toe both ways easily and this does... (2 replies)
