... Have you seen your doctor or PT yet? Just curious as to what they've said. I'm 6.5 weeks post-op bunion/hammertoe surgery and have been doing the big toe exercises for a week. I was told not to be afraid to force the toe to the maximum range of motion. It hurts! But I was told that if it doesn't hurt then I'm not pushing far enough. ... ow now, I would NEVER have let the orthopedic man cut into me. I also had hammer toes and wore inserts in my shoes, which did nothing but cause more damage. ... The coldness may be due to the clotting of the blood due to less activity. Exercises can be done only after the foot gets healed. You can start with the manipulation exercises which will help in the movement of the toes. Then as day by day it becomes stronger you can use resistance band that will help for stretching and make sure that the exercise is not painful. (19 replies)
