... Hi Everyone!
I'm new to these boards and am having bunion surgery on the 6th (1 week from today). I'm not sure the exact name of my procedure, but it sounds like the Lapidus procedure (taking a wedge out of the 1st metatarsal and midfoot fusion w/ screws) but I'm also having a wedge taken out in the big toe (2nd bone from the tip) and a screw put in there. Also, I will have... (13 replies)

... Hi all, I am now 11 mos post op - done last Dec, in NYC, and I am doing well - but I do wear a brace w/ a slip on shoe, or no brace with a winter heavier shoe that has some support. I am very aware of the foot - it is still numb on the outside, and not very maleable, but really no pain to speak of. I am also very concerned w/ the other foot, because I do not want to do this... ... Today is day 10 post-op. Nothing much has changed other than the pain I feel when I put my leg down. I'm not talking about standing on it, I just mean when I get up to go to the bathroom for about 3-5 minutes every hour or so. Using my knee scooter.
