... I agree Cosmic, doing PT and learning how to stretch and bend the toe and regain ROM is sooooo important. At almost 4 months postop, I'm pretty stiff, especially in the morning, but I work through what sort of feels like arthritic pain to achieve a better stretch. I do something every hour and as time passes and I'm trusting the bone healing more, I'm trying to be more... (22 replies)
... When I walk now, 3 months postop, I also feel that "bony" feeling. It has subsided some, but I still get residual swelling and some sharp pains. My arch aches, but if I do PT, that subsides. DarkLight, at 3 months, did you have residual pain in your left foot? Thanks again for sharing your story. (240 replies)

... I had the Austin procedure done, pins in 4 toes. My foot looks somewhat normal in the morning, but swells as the day goes on. I just started putting weight on it Friday. The hardest thing is trying to find shoes that my foot will fit in. I don't have pain in my foot, just feels as if the top is burning. I am worried because I can't bend my toes. I go back to doctor in three... (17 replies)

... hen I am in the pool I am trying to put more weight on my foot and practice standing on my toes. Last week the physical therapist had me put all my weight on my postop foot, while I stood on a foam pillow. I have to say this hurt alot and the rest of the day my foot ached. ... (22 replies)
... I had my bunionectomy on Dec. 27th, much earlier than yours and my doctor didn't want me to put much weight on it until now, 8+ weeks postop. He did say I could use a stationary bike at 7 weeks, but, as a runner, I must admit that is too much pressure on my foot right now, so, I'd be hesitant about spinning for awhile. I have been swimming laps....some....but walking for... (23 replies)

... I had the austin where they cut the bone behind my big toe, realigned it and screwed it in (dissolveable screws), cut off the bunion, also had lots of bone spurs removed and arthritis (?) cleaned up. I have no pins, & I'll bet that makes a lot of difference in recovery. I mostly only have pain when I move hard, move odd, take too long of a stride, walk too much or when I'm... (22 replies)

... It sounds like you have an honest surgeon who isn't giving any unrealistic hopes. I think that you need to talk with your surgeon about a very realistic recovery timeline. You should discuss with them your feelings and fears to really decide if this is right for you. Personally, I would choose to do one foot at a time, I can't imagine having both done at once and having to... (16 replies)
... My toe is numb all around, but I'm only 2 weeks postop on a single foot. How long did it take your left toe to regain sensation? ... (2 replies)
... Oh, I feel your pain especially today! Almost 5 weeks postop, so I'm thinking how tough I am, I'll try to cram my foot into the loosest shoes I have & practice with them over the weekend. The doctor did say to do this. Ouch! It was great for my back & hips not to have to walk on that 3" boot, but to get into a shoe, I had to reduce my bandage to 1 thin cover with the... (9 replies)
... I had one foot Austin chevron osteotomy w/bumpectomy, tendon release, absorbable sutures, and pin that was removed at 4 wks postop I have a few completely unofficial theories about bunion surgery (from other posts and my online research) 1. bumpectomies - apparently just shave off the bump This was offered to me by one podiatrist that was recommended to me by someone I...
