... Nothing will get rid of bunions except surgery. Before I went for surgery, I tried the following: -Stretching my shoes (most shoe repair places will do this for $10 or less) -Orthotics -Soft pads/cushions -Night splints (bunion regulators) When none of those things worked, I figured it was time to take some action. ... Thanks, Jane. I'll look into that. I had figured they might be available at the Rite Aids, etc., of the world, where one can find plenty of toe separators and bunion pads (not to mention splints for many other conditions). But no luck so far. (5 replies)
... No, I don't think so. And as I said, I am specifically looking for availability at brick-and-mortar retail. I'm trying to avoid ordering online. A G--gle search on "bunion splint" produces tens of thousands of hits, so the things definitely exist in a big way. ... My incision was never a problem (now 4 weeks postop Austin w/pin), it is 4 inches long on the top of my big toe and a thin red slightly raised line. I had subcuticular stitches - much better cosmetic result than the regular kind supposedly. ... Ok, I know what you are talking about. I think I've only ever seen them offered online...but you could try the Foot Smart catalogue. I think too that my podiatrist was going to give me one, so see if yours does. I tried one but it really didn't do me any good. (5 replies)
