... I forgot to tell you. I could put my shoe on right after the removal. He put a big bandage on the incision. He said that I could shower and get it wet, but I decided to wait until it healed a bit before I got it wet. I guess I was afraid of getting an infection, but he gave me infection pills. It was actually 3 1/2 months. I just looked it up for my screw, plate and wires to... (9 replies)

... About 6-8 weeks out after bilateral bunionette ( Tailor's Bunion, 5th metatarsal ) correction surgery, I developed a swollen knot on the TOP of my foot at the base of my pinky toe. But only on the left foot! The swelling feels hard like bone, but X-rays show that it's made up of soft tissue. My podiatrist is stumped, and the second podiatrist I saw wasn't much more... ... n a storm is coming, is stubbing it on something. I've very clumsy and at least once a week I seem to hit my toe on something and I'm afraid that I'll break the screw eventually. It doesn't help that I absolutely can not stand to wear shoes. I try to keep my slippers on at all times at least so I have a bit of protection. ... (9 replies)

... I can relate to your problem! I had bunionectomy November 10 2003 and still can only wear 2 pair of shoes. No heels, and had to buy a pair of wide width. I also got orthotics for both feet so that makes the fit even tighter. Doctor said it is normal and it will take some time. I reccomend getting a pair of wide, comfortable shoes, preferably with shoe laces. Good luck! (5 replies)

... Hi gsxgirl, I am having my re-do surgery on January 16th too! After my first surgery, I wasn't active due to the problems that I had (the guy messed up). So, for almost a year, I have not excercised very much. I ended up gaining about 10 pounds after the first 4 months, but I tried going low carb and I took off those pounds in no time! I tried the south beach diet, but I... (10 replies)

Back to my normal life (a lot of cycling, some walking). I'm 31 years old, pretty healthy / fit. And, a quick healer according to my surgeon. 1) I don't really understand this.
