... Wow, yours was definitely more intense than mine. I had a distal chevron osteotomy for both my bunions (I have one on each side). I think it's one of the most common types of WB surgery done, but since I have very thin/fragile bones, I really can't put any weight on it otherwise I risk breaking the osteotomy. I should be in a sneaker by 8 weeks and my normal footwear (flats)... (39 replies)
... I'm glad you're feeling better Rainabow. They gave me an antibiotic prior to the surgery, but I didn't have to take one after the surgery like you. I first developed a bunion at about age seven, which was made worse by my activities and tight shoes which stressed the toe joint. ... (39 replies)

... oving and the swelling is worse I'd call the Dr again. Even though he gave you antibiotics as a precaution, if you do have an infection it might not be the right antibiotic for you. If you have a fever and it looks infected go to the ER if he can't see you. ... (4 replies)

... Thank you everyone for all your support and advice! It is very much appreciated! I'm sorry that I haven't posted in so long. I am now 5 weeks past surgery & I am working back into my tennis shoe. You guys were right- the swelling in my foot was what was causing my extra pain. My dr gave me an antibiotic and Ibuprofen & that seemed to make a huge difference! He said he can have... (9 replies)
... Thank you. This information is really helpful. My plan is to teach through this school year....and maybe try to get pregnant toward the end of the school year. Once pregnant I will be a stay-at-home mom and I don't plan to go back until my kids are in school themselves. If I follow through with this insurance will end June 2008. So I wouldn't be able to do it... (11 replies)

... Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. Luv2runn, I'm glad to hear everything is going smoothly so far for you. Sounds like you really lucked out with the medications. I'm also completely NWB and got only one foot done. I was supposed to be able to walk on my heel with crutches for support, but it hurts too much where all the hardware is. My foot doesn't hurt much when I'm just... (39 replies)
... Ahh don't worry about it. I was actually supposed to get my surgery done last year, but I kept putting it off because I'm a huge wimp (as you can see). It might not get worse for you if they aren't that bad right now. Get some orthotics, stretch out your shoes, and steer clear of crowded/tight/high shoes as much as possible, and there's a good chance that they'll stabilize.... (39 replies)
... you probably need to get an antibiotic if it is an infection. ... (3 replies)
... weeks and can tell I'm getting "my" body back which feels good. I won't go into it all because it really doesn't pertain to feet but since I use exercise as an antibiotic I've had to go through some days of feeling really rotten before better ......antibiotics..or the heat in my case... ... ... I know already I'll feel horrible in the morning but I would rather do that as have to take an antibiotic forever. ... (32 replies)
... Thank you so much for giving me the time-frame I should be in!!! That was what I had been searching for but evidently have a hard time getting my thoughts from brain to keyboard sometimes. As for my walking on my heels.....I evidently wrote that incorrectly too. Up until my last appt this past week I had been told to not put any pressure on the front of my foot so it was...
