As far as choosing between a podiatrist and orthopedic surgeon, I would say an ortho and one who specializes in the foot and ankle. That is just my opinion. ... P.S. After all that and I forgot the mention the name of the ortho dr. that I've been seeing who's public practice is at St. Paul's. He is a foot and ankle specialist and his name is Dr. Murray Penner. He has an excellent reputation and he is who the Vancouver Canucks go to see when they have problems. ... Well I had mine done under the national health...but you can have it done privately if you have medical insurance...but getting a bunion under insurance can be quite tricky! I thought in Canada and America that foot surgery is mainly don by Podiatrists? ... (64 replies)
