... when it comes to rods and screws, the best is to ask your doctor. Each one may do it differently. I have 2 screws. Some use a pin, but for the larger bone it isn't always sturdy enough. Rods may be used if it's more complicated. It doesn't actually make the procedure that much more complicated. I would say that 6 weeks would definitely be enough, barring no complications... Trouble is a friend of mine has recently had it done and it has gone wrong, she has a pin and even after 3 months still cant wear normal shoes and has been told she will more than likely be crippled for life!!! ...
