... I had the boot, too, but if I was just laying around resting and elevating, I didn't have to wear it. So, when I iced I had the boot off and iced with a bag of peas. I used a bean bag chair to elevate so I'd rest the back of the foot/ankle on the bag of peas which was on top of the bean bag. ... You can always send and e-mail message to your surgeon through Kaiser's website, it may take them a while to respond, but they are required to do so. You can leave the boot on and put a bag of frozen peas behind your knee as you elevate your foot. This will cool down the blood on its way to the foot and lessen the swelling. It works, really.
