... Hi Pammie, welcome to this board. To be honest, I was taken aback to hear that your doctor told you to go take a shower on day 5 and let the water run over your stitches. Most of us was advised against having our feet wet until the stitches were removed (after the examination of doctor to make sure the wounds had closed nicely). ... easy to get around wth crutches, also to go up and down the stairs. They say down with the good, up with the bad, so when you go up the stairs, you put your bad foot first on the heel and then push yourself up with one of the crutches, and the other hand on handrail.
