... Keep icing and elevating. My toes kind of stuck up at first, too. My Dr had me massage my toes and push them down a lot too help stretch the tendons. Its still kind of soon since your surgery so it is still healing. I had a lot more work done and was nwb for 8 weeks, in a cast for 12 weeks and a boot for 5 weeks, so really cant compare recoveries. ... ow now, I would NEVER have let the orthopedic man cut into me. I also had hammer toes and wore inserts in my shoes, which did nothing but cause more damage. ... hi, thanks for i dont think i had lateral release done im finding my second toe is really rubbing against my big toe. I tried walking in my own trainers today as oppose to the surgical shoe and im experiencing sharp pains (like a pin prick) in the same foot....its horrible...did you have this symptom too? ... YES! I'm 5 months post op and still major discomfort. Have 3 pins - all seem to be in place each time he operates. Still swollen. I'm ok if I know this is going to get better - I've heard some people take up to 6-12 months to heal... I have a strange pulling sensation across my big toe (bunionectomy) and my 2nd toe (shortened).
