... :confused:Hope someone can help me here. I had a Austin/Akin procedure for a 13 degree bunion along with second metatarsal shortening done by a podiatrist on April 4 since I was having pain the ball of my foot. Here it is 10 months later, and I am still experiencing pain. I have been thru PT for 2 months, had all the hardware removed except for a small staple on October... (3 replies)

... I had a fibial sesamoidectomy which will be 3 months this week. It is my third foot surgery procedure. I had a bunionectomy (Austin/Akin procedure), and a big toe fusion. I am experiencing tingling and burning and am trying to rub the incision (on the bottom) as much as possible. Could this be Chronic Regiional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or just the nerves healing? Scheduled... (7 replies)

I have some pain with the left foot now, only it's more of a soreness feeling and it's actually in that toe joint when I walk.

... Well he corrected the bunion with an Austin Akin procedure and shortened the 2nd metatarsal because I was having pain on the ball of the foot - which is called capsulitis. Thanks, I am nervous. I just don't want to be "laid up" like before. I was finally getting my life back - somewhat. (36 replies)
... Where did you get the Pedifix?? and the elastic sleeve? I looked at Walgreens and couldn't find any sleeve. I do wrap my foot at night and support my arch and cushion the ball of my foot, in a variety of ways. I just try different things. ... I have been having pain in the ball of the foot for quite some time. I have a 13 degree bunion and a bent big toe that needs to be straightened as well (Akin procedure). The podiatrist also thinks that I may have capsulitis and says if I have pinched nerve he will find it when he goes in to shorten my second metatarsal. Is shortening the second metatarsal really necessary. ... (3 replies)
... Pohtr, I had an austin/akin buinionectomy, where the big toe bone was cut and then the one below it, and the bunion was shaved away. ... Hi Everyone -
Tomorrow I will be 8 weeks post bunion surgery (akin bunionectomy + austin osteotomy). I'm happy to report that on day 53 I was able to walk 3.3km outside, and on day 54 I walked 4.9km on a snowy trail (uneven terrain). It's going quite well overall, but I do have a couple of questions:
1) How long will swelling stick around? My foot feels pretty good,... (1 replies)
... What a great topic! I sm 3 weeks post-op (austin bunionectomy with akin osteotomy) and am also wondering how I may manage yoga. Before the surgery I spoke with the instructor in my restorative/yoga nidra class. She saud that would be appropriate, but so far we've had lots of snow here, so I haven't made it to class yet. I would feel ready for that and it's all non-standing... (5 replies)

My surgery was 5 days ago and after reading about all the difficult recoveries, I feel like I'm doing exceptionally well. I had maybe 15 minutes of very intense pain the evening of the surgery, but that was quickly brought under control with the meds I was given (Toradol, Tylenol 3, as well as Keflex for the antibiotic). I took all of... (6 replies)
