... I am 5 weeks post op, I had a double bunionectomy -so both feet- the first and second metatarsal broke and set with a screw/for the first( bunion toe) and the second toe with a pin. I also had a bilateral snip to my ligaments on both feet as well.

... Well, I am not out 4 weeks and 4 days from a lapidus procedure plus work on 3 of my 5 toes. I finally have begun to feel better. I went on the 7th and they removed the stitches and the three external pins. Although I had asked about the pin removal on these boards, I was still very nervous about the whole thing. ... Here's how things went for me.
Bunionectomy with 2 v-cuts/3 screws in right great toe, 1 v-cut/2 screws in left great toe. Hammertoes/second toes were shorted slightly in order to straighten then. Second joint in second toes fused. Pins/k wires in both second toes.
Nov 29, walked out of outpatient surgery with HUGE bandages and surgical walking shoes on both toes.

... When I was cleared for weight bearing after my right foot with the boot (at the first post-op visit), I didn't feel comfortable doing it either. I think it took about 2-3 whole days of slowly adjusting from the crutches to just the boot. (149 replies)
