... I just had bunion surgery Friday morning as well as hammertoe correction, what they did for me was take out a wedge of my bone in my big toe, put a permanent screw in it to help keep it straight, and then "released" my tendon on my second toe. The surgery itself went fine and way better than I had anticipated. ... (3 replies)

... Random post-op questions...I had an akin-type osteotomy a week ago today, with permanent screw fixation (2 of them). The first couple of days the pain was very bad, even though I was diligent in icing and elevating my foot, as well as taking my meds. ... Hello! I had a chevron (Austin) bunionectomy for a mild bunion and big toe deformity (it had moved out of joint, but hadn't affected any other toes) back in February. I'm finally wearing "cute shoes" again comfortably (though not long distances!) now. So, I had a mild to moderate (ie: only 1 toe involved, Chevron osteotomy with permanent screw) bunion, and I was immobile... (8 replies)
... I had my surgery on Monday, was out Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs., and by Friday was so stir crazy I did go back to work. I can sit down all day, and I just elevated my foot above my waist (stuck it up on my desk) and kept it iced all day. That was basically my modus operandi for a couple of weeks. If you can do your job sitting and elevate your foot, you should be fine. (I was... (6 replies)

... Hi! When my pod did my first foot, (1/21/05) he also corrected my toe (broke it, reset it, and I have a permanent screw in it) which made my recovery MUCH longer and really took my a while to be able to push off. I'm absolutely fine now - no pain, total strength, etc. and it's an attractive foot for the first time in my life! It depends on how bad your foot is now;... (7 replies)
... I am also 11 weeks post op and my foot hurts worse than prior to surgery. I had a bunion removed; big toe cut & straightened with a permanent screw; bone spur removed from top of toe joint. My podiatrist did not send me to a physical therapist and right now, the progress I make is what I do for myself. I try to stretch my toes daily, but they will only move so far. The top...
