... My surgery was two and a half years ago, bunion and bunionette on right foot with osteotomies and pins. I know I felt much better once the pins were removed. I seemed to have a lot of nerve pain around the pins. ... (15 replies)

... I had that with the taylor bunionette surgery on my right foot.. my little toe was numb and I couldn't move it for almost a year. When I had nasal surgery this past October it was almost a month before I could fully "smile" again due to the nerves being interrupted. ... (11 replies)
... Hey everyone. Virginia Beach was hot!, but I'm not complaining as we have had virtually no summer in the Northeast (of course the next four days we are forecasted to have temperatures in the 90's). My POD said my x-rays showed arthritis in the big toe joint. The bunion is now comparable size to the one I had operated on. The bunionette is not nearly as big as the one on the... (97 replies)
... I did ice for much longer than 10 minutes at a time. More like an hour at a time with an hour off. The third day was the worse for me. I called the doctor, I was in so much pain. Any anesthesia/block is long gone. "Walking" at this point will be using your heel for balance. You aren't expected to be on your feet except to go to the bathroom and up for meals. You will... ... Hi everyone! I had bunionette surgery last Tuesday (doc removed bump on bone, and broke/reset little toe). He also shortened the toe, and inserted a plate and 2 screws. I have had to stay off of it since, and also keep it elevated at all times. I go back for my first follow-up appointment tomorrow. How soon will I be able to walk on it? I am a teacher and hoping to go back... (0 replies)
... ed earlier in my recovery. I had a double bunionectomy on the right foot. No hammer toe problem, just the "traditional" bunion on the big toe side and a wicked bunionette on the little toe side. I turned the pins because someone in an earlier post recommended it to make it easier when the doctor removes them. ... (40 replies)
... I had a follow-up appt yesterday, and the podiatrist said I'm doing fine and not overdoing it. He said short flights are ok right now, but I should wait until I'm 2 weeks post-op before taking on intercontinental flights, and then only in first class (so I can elevate). He did seem really pleased with my healing so far, so maybe I'm healing fast enough that he thinks all of... (4 replies)
... I had a bunionectomy on my RT foot on 9/16 - so I am 6 wks post-op. Absorbable screw in big toe and my tailors bunion just shaved, no pin or screw. I am now just trying to walk again in tennis shoes. I spent the first 5 weeks in a boot. I am hoping to be ready for my LT foot on 12/16 , 12 weeks apart. If I can walk better by then and feel like I can support myself sufficiently... (3 replies)
... d last week with a bunion. I've already had four reconstructive surgeries for other issues so this is likely residual, but not what I would have hoped for. Bone surgery is excrutiating. It started out being a bursa, but then forces in my foot have brought about a bunion. ... (29 replies)
... Based on what you are saying, you believe that the discomfort at 10 weeks post op is common. Correct? ... (12 replies)
... surgery on bottom of my foot. Ortho told me that when surgery is done like I had, the nerves may take months to rejuvinate. And that having 2 surgeries may take months and months to heal. ... (12 replies)
... Hi. I just had bunionectomy, bunionette, and hammertoe surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said to start putting some weight on the heel of my foot. I did this a few times, but felt a horrible pulling sensation between my big toe and second toe (where I had hammertoe). I have two long pins in my second toe with a screw, and 4 other screws for the... (3 replies)
... I didn't have a bunionette or anything done on that side but this is where it seems to hurt the most. ... (5 replies)
... rgical foot. I found out he had also taken out one of the sesamoid bones, so the big toe could move into the right place. He had done an Austin procedure. The bunionette side's procedure was very unusual. ... (97 replies)
... Pearl, just reading about your procedure makes me woozy. It sounds like you are recovering very well. Will you have the toe pins removed soon? Here is a question to all, do you know what determines if screws or temporary pins will be used? I'm returning to my POD on Wednesday. It appears I have arthritis in the big toe joint/bunion on the foot that has not had surgery yet... (97 replies)
... I had bunionette and bunion surgery on my right foot last May. I kept the ice on my ankle most of the first week. ... (6 replies)
... pair I'd got were ok. So that's saying something! They are really like a trainer again. I think that's all I will be able to wear for a while. I gave up on the post op shoes after about 2 weeks, they were so uncomfortable and I found they actually gave me less support, once the initial swelling had gone down. ... (49 replies)
